The importance of being ‘alone’

There is something special about being alone, everyone views it as a different thing though. Some enjoy the silence and others constantly what to be around other people. But whatever you do know that you are never alone because God is always with you and he sees and hears everything that goes on in your head. I find it very easy to be alone, in fact I love it. It allows me time to talk with God, to relax and think about things that are always running through my head and just step out of the busy life that most of us live.

Imagine a life where you were never alone, where people were constantly surrounding you, talking to you and giving you no privacy. Well I for one wouldn’t like that at all, and I’m sure that plenty of people would agree with me that it would be rather awful. You simply need time alone, to step away from everything and just be with God for a wee while, just Him and you. You see, God isn’t like everyone else, he will listen to you if you want to talk, comfort you if you’re feeling low or he will just be in your presence.

So if you ever feel alone then know that you aren’t, if you ever feel stressed take some time out and just be by yourself where you can gather your thoughts and finally, realise that being alone can be great.

Testimonies

Last week I told my testimony at a women’s fellowship and this week it’s been the communions in my church so I’ve heard a few testimonies. What I have come to realised is how much of a blessing it is from God to be able to have a testimony, so that other people can see what a difference God has made in your life. It’s a time to share difficulties and struggles but also delight and contentment, it’s a time to show people what God – not you – has done to make you a changed person and how much better life is with God. Even when telling your testimony to other people, I feel that you yourself get a deeper understanding of what God has really done for you. That’s why it’s such a joy to share testimony with other people and it’s such an important part in our Christian lives to do so.

I once heard that if somebody asks you to tell your testimony, you shouldn’t decline and say sorry because no matter how difficult it is for you to produce the words and how nervous you may be, God is with you and you can do all things through Him who gives you strength and He doesn’t want you to say no, He wants you to share what He can do to spin your life around. So go out there and tell your testimonies because they are a gift from God.

Don’t let them get you down

Don’t let people put you down. It’s one of the best advices anyone can ever give you! There’s always going to be people who disagree, don’t necessarily like you and/or people who will put you down. Don’t let them, why should they ruin your perfectly good day? The correct answer to that is; they shouldn’t.
I, myself use to always be put down. From a young age I was bullied and yes, it did bother me but I was still the happy girl that I knew myself to be and I wouldn’t let anyone take that away from me. Still to this day I have the same perspective; don’t let them get to you. When I went through a rough patch of my life I let everyone’s negative comments into my head and I wouldn’t let go of them, it’s like they were the only thing I had to hold on to. If you’ve ever been in my situation I’m sure you can relate. But I found a way so simple to get rid of them; it was to let go and get a hold of joy and to this day I can tell you that I do not let my joy go away.
God wants us to rejoice in Him, He wants us to be happy and share our love and happiness around everywhere we go! So if you’re having a rough day or just a hard time, find a better perspective of the situation and look for the joy.

Daily Verse

Haven’t done a daily verse for some days but I have a good reason; communions! Had two amazing nights in Carloway which is a village on the island that I currently live on. It’s great to see how many people come together to praise God and just rejoice in fellowship.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. – Psalm 73:26

PWOAH. Fantabulous, isn’t it just?!
I fail in life all the time, but God forgives you, though you might not think that he does, he does. Talking about communions, I mean isn’t that a celebration? Celebrating the remembrance of Jesus, His kindness and love. He forgives us because He loves us. Whenever I fall short of God, He forgives me and helps me to gain back my strength that I lost. He is faithful and forgiving. I can assure that whatever you are going through, it’s for a reason.
His timing is great, His timing is sure, whenever you fall short, don’t be unsure, for God’s love is great and He is forgiving, don’t give up, it’s just the beginning.

Daily Verse

I waited patiently for the Lord ; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. – Psalm 40:1-3

There’s no way of explaining my love for this verse. This is one of my favourite verses because God does hear you when you cry and you just have to be patient and he will lift you out, then put you on his rock when the time is right.

Daily verse

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16

I love this verse so much because when I first converted I didn’t know how to tell my friends and family that I had become a Christian, and one night as I was reading my Bible I came across the parable of the lamp and then this and they just spoke to me so true. That I was a burning flame and I had to shine my light and not hide away.
Day to day I try and shine my light as much as I can and I do all the best things that I can for others. This week shine your light and do good deeds for your Father.

Daily Verse

In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” – John 5:17

I think this verse is so special to me because it gives me so much strength when I’m upset about something because it gives me reassurance that he is at work, and even though I am down about something I know that he will bring me up to something amazing that he is working on. So when things don’t go your way just remember that our greatest plans are worse than god’s worst plans.

His timing is always right, even though you believe it might not be. You might be going through a lot right now but you simply can’t give up, because if you do you will not reach the destination God wants you to reach and then, once you reach the destination there might be a corner you will have to turn and around the corner you might find a rainbow.

He is always working. Though we might feel forgotten, don’t you worry because he died for you, so how could he ever forget you?

So I know this is quite personal but I got baptised last Friday and I went forward, yay! For anyone who is stuck thinking whether or not they should do it, do it. It is such a blessing and everyone is so welcoming in the church (family). I feel like a new and improved version of myself every single day I walk with The Lord and this was just the cherry on top. I’m thinking of starting everyday of with a verse just to keep it in mind throughout the day and – if there’s someone out there who actually reads my blog – I hope you enjoy it.
